This Thursday evening an open forum will be conducted by the Monongalia County Superintendent of Schools on West Virginia Academy's charter application at University High School. The specific details for this event are as follows:
Time: 5:30pm / 6pm
Date: October 22, 2020
Location: University High School, 131 Bakers Ridge Rd, Morgantown, WV 26508
Our governing board has been invited to present for 20 minutes at 6pm, which will be followed by comments from delegations of stakeholders and the public. Persons who wish to comment will be given two minutes each, but sign-ups for providing comments will close by 5:50pm. Seating will be established to provide for physical distancing so space may be somewhat limited in the room where we will be presenting, although overflow space will be provided in the cafeteria. Please plan to arrive early and wear a mask.
An announcement has been posted to the Monongalia County Schools' twitter account and is circulating on electronic billboards in Morgantown. We anticipate that the unpublicized rule of cutting off public comment sign-ups ten minutes prior to the event may likely prevent a representative sample of the public from providing feedback. However, in spite of this procedural concern, we are excited about the opportunity to present our charter application to all who are interested. We hope to see you there!
Our full charter application is available on the Monongalia County Schools website. From that homepage, please select "Board of Education" and then you can find the application in the drop-down menu. We would post a direct link, but the school district has changed the URL for the application itself several times, which prevents us from linking directly to the application itself.
