Fall Enrollment Priority Deadline Fast Approaching

With spring in full bloom, scholars at West Virginia Academy are working hard to finish this school year strong, but a key deadline for new student enrollments is looming. May 1st is the new student application priority deadline for those seeking to enroll at the start of the 2025-26 school year. Apart from continuing students who are guaranteed a spot the following year, prospective students that apply by the priority deadline have the best opportunity to enroll at West Virginia Academy. After the priority deadline through the first day of school, students are enrolled on a first-come first-served basis or wait listed in the order applications are received.

As the first-ever public charter school in the Mountaineer state, West Virginia Academy is open to all WV residents and completely free. Charter schools are privately managed non-profit organizations that operate outside the confines of the local school district and most of the state education bureaucracies. This enables charter schools to develop unique programs and more quickly implement best practices in education to meet the needs of their scholars. At West Virginia Academy, we break down barriers to learning arising from the one-size-fits-all approach that fails to challenge students who learn at a faster pace and leaves students in the dust if they need additional support.

Primary school scholars receive instruction at their individualized level and pace of learning in reading, writing and math as well as grade-level instruction. Middle school students are exposed to critical thinking and an international perspective as participants in West Virginia's only International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. West Virginia Academy high school students participate heavily in our dual enrollment program and attend WVU classes on campus two days a week with mentorship to assist in the transition from high school to college. WVA high school students will earn between 20-36 hours of college credit before high school graduation. The academy's students averaged a 3.91 GPA across all college classes taken last fall.
