WVA's Bus Route Starts Monday, April 17th

West Virginia Academy is excited to announce that it will be expanding its student transportation options in a big way beginning next week. While shuttle services from the Bruceton area have been available since the second term, we will now begin providing bus transportation to our scholars throughout most of our PRA. Our first bus route will begin on Monday, April 17th with a pickup in the Bruceton area. The route, which was designed based on expressed interest from families, proceeds from Bruceton to a stop at the Cooper's Rock exit and then through the neighborhoods on both sides of cheat lake before heading to the school. The new route, specific details of each stop, and signups are available on our website Transportation Page.

Families that wish to utilize the bus services must complete the form to indicate which stop they intend to have their child or children board. Families must sign up using the bus registration link on the Transportation Page for each child and also must use the School Guardian App when utilizing the transportation services to improve safety, security, and communication.

Expectations While Riding

Transportation services are provided for all families who sign up, but scholars must utilize the services regularly (about 80% of the time or more) to keep their spot on the bus. Student conduct on the bus must meet the high standards for behavior while in school and repeated violations of appropriate student conduct can result in a revocation of bus riding privileges. One-way transportation is permitted if a student is participating in before or after school care or sports programming after school. In the event that demand exceeds available seating then priority will be given to those residing within the PRA. Those currently living outside the PRA may still register and indicate the stop they would like to use and WVA will try to accommodate these requests to the maximum extent possible.

WVA will be implementing a check-in/check-out system using School Guardian to improve information to parents and student security for bus riders. Once a scholar has boarded the bus, parents/guardians will be able to track the school bus and its route to/from the school. At the end of the school day as the bus leaves the school, families can follow the route to know exactly when it will be arriving at their designated stop. The app will also allow the bus driver and/or attendant to communicate directly with families if a traffic or weather event causes a significant delay or cancellation of services.

Students Residing In Private Neighborhoods

In order to accommodate students residing within private neighborhoods, like falling water for example, there is a form below that grants permission for pickup in those neighborhoods. If your scholar resides in a private neighborhood with an HOA, please fill out the form below and return it to the front desk once it is completed so our school can provide services to your child.

Returning and Transfer Students

At the start of the year, a number of WVA families had to leave the school due to the lack of transportation. A personal invitation is extended to all those families. WVA's doors are always open to past and future scholars. Scholars who would like to join WVA this term must act quickly. The deadline to transfer is on APRIL 14th. Any student who transfers now, will automatically be enrolled in the 2023-24 academic school year. If the application is received after the deadline, it will be placed on the waitlist for next year and only accepted if there is room in that grade level. Classes in some grades for next year have already filled up so please don't wait.
