West Virginia Academy is excited to announce that the application window for the Fall of 2023 for new students as well as the renewal period for continuing students is now open and the priority deadline is Friday, February 10th. West Virginia Academy is accepting applications for grade levels Pre-K to 10th grade for this upcoming fall. The academy is West Virginia's first public charter school and provides free public education to any student that either resides in West Virginia or that will reside in West Virginia by the first day attending classes. WVA provides instruction at each child's individualized level in the core topics of reading, writing, and math starting as early as Pre-K using direct instruction. Students learn in a professional environment with higher standards for behavioral conduct along with a dress code and uniform policy.
Students who are already enrolled this year, including mid-year transfers, are guaranteed a spot in next year's class so long as they complete the registration by the priority deadline of February 10, 2023. New students that transfer this school year prior to the deadline receive the same priority.
Students seeking to enroll for the first time starting next year should complete a new student application before the deadline to have the best chance of admission. In the event there are more students who apply by the priority deadline than available space in any grade level, a selection lottery will be held on February 15th to determine enrollments at random for that grade level. Transfer students and new student applications are accepted after the priority deadline, but spots are then allocated to students in the order that applications are received and wait-listed thereafter. Classes begin the first week of August for the 2023-2024 academic year.
