Honoring Our Country this Memorial Day Weekend

Is there a better way to celebrate Memorial weekend than a field trip to the National Mall? Our 10th graders braved the 3+ hour drive to visit our nation's capital and see memorials dedicated to those who have gone before us. In the morning, scholars visited the Natural History Museum. Students visited the Bone Hall and Fossil exhibit, got up close and personal with insects, and discovered chemical equations in the gem and mineral display.

After lunch, the 10th graders rented bikes and cruised to many of the most prominent memorials in Washington DC. Time was given to pay tribute to our fallen soldiers in World War 1 & 2, Vietnam, and the Korean War. Our scholars saw depictions of Thomas Jefferson, Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, and Franklin Roosevelt. Our scholars also biked past the Washington Monument, the White House, and the U.S. Capitol Building.

As citizens of this wonderful nation, WVA is proud to honor all those that have served to keep the freedoms we enjoy every day. Thank you to our Veterans! We will never forget your incredible service and sacrifice.
