West Virginia Academy is a public state-funded charter school and so any student that resides in WV may attend for free once admitted. 

Applications for Mid-Year Transfer Students: Students may apply to transfer in to West Virginia Academy between September 16th and April 15th of each school year and will be admitted so long as there is space available in the student's grade level. Families interested in transferring should complete the New Student Application below and contact the school directly at to confirm whether space is available in the applicable grade. Families are typically notified of a decision within 3-5 business days after contacting the school, although longer processing times may occur during term breaks when offices are closed. Admitted transfer students in the current school year are not subject to the lottery process for the following year as they are deemed to be continuing students that are guaranteed a spot for all future grade levels.

Applications for New School Year: Applications for new students seeking to start in the fall at the beginning of the next school year open on April 1st each year and the priority deadline is May 1st. New student applications remain open after the priority deadline until September 15th of each new school year.

All new student applicants who apply by the priority deadline receive the same consideration. If there are more applicants than spaces available as of the priority deadline for any grade level then a random lottery process is conducted for all applicable grade levels the second Wednesday in May to accept students for available space and to place students who are not admitted on a priority wait-list. New student applicants who are admitted are notified of their admission or wait-listing status in May and admitted students must promptly complete registration as directed to retain their spot in the incoming Fall class.

Student applications received after the May 1st priority deadline are accepted (or assigned a priority space on the wait-list) in the order received on a first-come, first-served basis. Families applying after the priority deadline are typically notified within 5-10 business days of admission (or placement on a wait-list), although response times may be longer in late June and early July. Upon receipt of admission, new students must promptly complete the registration process as directed to retain their spot in the incoming fall class.
